It is weekend again.
This is the last weekend before I began to work, so I decide to visit Bandera county.
After saying Happy father's day to my family, I researched a lot of information about Bandera. There is a Bandera fall and city park is looking beautiful.. mm, sounds good to me.. Let's go!
Actually, Bandera is around 45 miles west from San Antonio. The best way to go just take 16 directly take you to Bendera. I got to say, highway 16 inside San Antonio is a little bit traffic, but after 1604., it is getting better. It is a beautiful scenic drive within hill country... A lot of cedar trees..
Look at all the green, my heart is cheering... Happy.... Glad I made this good decision to go out..
On the way to Bandera, there were quite a lot of bikers out for the weekend ride.. also convertible cars were out for the sunny ,enjoyable weekend.. Everything looked like smiling at me..
The first thing I got to Bandera was to visit thier visitor center.. Bandera is called as the capitol of Cowboy. http://www.banderacowboycapital.com/
It is a really quite day for the center.. the lady was so nice to introduce me where to visit Bandera and have a long chat with everything.
Weather, sightseeing, where to shop, anything, besides she also recommended to come around on the Labor day weekend for Cowboy show..
Cattle drive, parade, some powpow dance celebration.... Celebrate Bandera
Put some picture of visitor center
The first stop I went is Bandera City park. Unfortunately, because of bacterias in water causing from lack of rain, the park was closed.
But I still managed to get in and took some pictures.
Back to Bandera, it is small, along with main street, you can kind of knew the whole town. Here is some townview
BTW, this is the first time i tried my tripod.. it is so good and handy to take self shot..
After I left Bandera, I decided to visit Medina lake on the Highway 16..
Medina Lake was constructed between 1911-1912 as an irrigation reservoir. An extensive canal system delivers water to 34,000 acres of blackland prairie farmlands below the Balcones escarpment around Castroville. Originally I thought it was a natural lake. After talking to the park ranger, I figured out that Medina Lake is a manmade lake for irrigation in Bexar, Medina and several counties. Since last year, Texas was lack of rains, therefore, Medina lake changed a lot because of that. The water Level was lost 44 feet since the normal depth.. although in the middle, it still got around 90 feet deep. Luckily, it is still able to provide for some water activities.
Almost the bottom of the lake
Water activity
I am here to witness the dry.
